Ricky Mill- Pastoral Counselor

Welcome
I look forward to serving you.
I have been preparing to serve folks like you since I became a Christian at the University of Georgia in the spring of 1962.

My prayer for myself  is found in Isaiah 50:4- “The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are instructed to know how to sustain the weary with a word. He awakens (me) each morning; He awakens my ear to listen like those being instructed. The Lord God  has opened my ear; and I was not rebellious; I did not turn back.”

C.S. Lewis has challenged me concerning my view of people. In The Weight of Glory, a sermon Lewis preached, he is discussing heaven. The ”weight” in “The Weight of Glory” has to do with the weightiness of the subject of heaven (it’s importance). As he concludes his sermon on heaven, he applies the importance of heaven to the daily life of the Christian.  He talks about how Christians should treat those they come into contact with in these words:  ”It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to  remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you can talk to may one day (in heaven) be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship…There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal.”

Mission
The concept of this ministry has a long history in my heart. It was birthed in July of 2010. Barnabas is one of my heros. He had the gift of encouraging people. He believed in giving folks who had experienced failure a second chance. I encourage you to reflect on his life as you read his biography in the New Testament (Acts 4:32-37; Acts 15:36-41).

My mission is simply to be Barnabas-like to those our Father sends my way.
